Isabel Garro is Special Adviser to the High Commissionaire for Agenda 2030 of Spain. She previously served for 14 years as Founding Executive Director of the Spanish Global Compact Network managing to make it become the largest Local Network worldwide. Isabel also acts as Faculty Associate of Strategic Management at IE Business School.
Well-known expert in the areas of Sustainable Development, Agenda 2030 and CSR, Garro has acted as a spokesperson at national and international initiatives and public consultations and promoted multidisciplinary initiatives with public as well as private stakeholders. Between 2015 and 2017, Garro was appointed Chair of the UNGC Local Network Advisory Group, representing 86 Local Networks at the UN Global Compact Board, chaired by the United Nations Secretary General. Isabel has also served on the Advisory Committee of Transparency International Spain and on the Ethics Board of Auchan Spain. Isabel started her career as a Senior Financial Auditor at Ernst & Young and as an M&A Analyst at Société Générale.
Isabel has a double degree Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Brown University and IE Business School. Garro received her bachelor’s degree from University of Comillas – ICADE (Madrid) and holds an Executive Education degree from IESE Business School in Public Sector Strategic Management and Social Leadership. Garro has also completed additional Executive Training Programs in Global Leadership and Global Civil Society at Harvard University.
