Marta Maria Ochoa is a Colombian lawyer with a Master’s degree in Journalism, who has worked for the last 6 years in helping increase diversity and equality in the trade union movement through her work at UNI Global Union.
UNI Global Union is a global union federation that represents more than 20 million workers in trade unions in the services sector, the fastest growing sector around the world. These sectors include athletes, finance, graphical and packaging, ICTS, gaming, property services, media and communications, hair and beauty, postal and logistics, and temp workers. UNI has presence in 150 countries, divided into 4 regions: UNI Europa, UNI Americas, UNI Africa and UNI Apro (Asia-Pacific).
UNI also works through three interprofessional and cross-sectorial groups : Equal Opportunities, Youth and Professionals and Managers.
Through her work as coordinator at the UNI Equal Opportunities Department, she has helped advocate on empowerment and inclusivity, contributing extensively in the implementation and expansion of campaigns that have leveraged influential roles for women and in particular, aimed to boost access to leadership positions for young women; as well as campaigns aimed at improving women representativity in unions.
As Director of Youth, she works to develop and implement global strategic plans to improve youth representation, address core priorities of workers under 35 years of age and protect their fundamental rights.
She lives in Switzerland with her husband and her 2 children.
